Setting Up Promo Party Pro
Complete Walkthrough

Install the App
- Search for Promo Party Pro in the Shopify App Store
- Click Install from the app listing
- Select a plan (free trial available for new installs)
Enable the Theme Embed
Promo Party requires a theme embed to work. The app detects if it's missing and shows a banner with a direct link to fix it.
If you need to do it manually:
- Go to Online Store > Themes in your Shopify admin
- Click Customize on your active theme
- Click App embeds in the left sidebar
- Toggle Promo Party Pro on
- Click Save
When you return to Promo Party, it will detect the embed is enabled and the warning banner will disappear.
Create Your First Campaign
Click Create Campaign in the upper right of the dashboard.
Set the Schedule
- Start time — When the promotion goes live (required)
- End time — When it automatically ends (optional)
Most promotions have an end date. If you skip this, you can end the campaign manually later.
Add a Title
Give your campaign a name. This is for your reference on the dashboard—customers won't see it.
Choose a Trigger
The trigger determines when customers qualify for the free gift. You have two options:
Subtotal threshold
Customer's cart must reach a minimum amount (e.g., $50).
Product in cart
Customer must have a specific product in their cart. You can select multiple qualifying products.
Select Your Free Gift
Choose which product(s) customers receive as their gift.
- Single variant — One specific item (e.g., "Black Tote Bag")
- Multiple variants — One product with options (e.g., "Tote Bag" in Black, Navy, or Natural)
- Multiple products — A selection of different items to choose from
You can mix and match—multiple products with multiple variants each.
Configure the Popup
The popup lets customers choose their gift when there's more than one option.
When you need it:
- Gift has size/color variants
- Offering multiple gift choices
When you don't:
- Single SKU, no variants
- Gift can be auto-added without customer input
Popup settings:
- Enable/disable — Toggle the popup on or off
- Language — Customize heading and button text
- Styling — Adjust appearance to match your store
- Re-display delay — If a customer dismisses the popup, choose how long before it appears again
Set Discount Combinations
This is the most important setting.
Promo Party creates an automatic discount to make the gift free. If you want this to work alongside other discounts (like a welcome code), you need to enable combinations.
In Promo Party:
Select which discount types can stack with your free gift.
In Shopify:
Your other discounts must also be set to combine. Both sides need to allow it.
What happens if you skip this:
If a customer applies a discount code that doesn't combine, it may override the free gift discount—and they'll be charged for the gift.

Save and Review
Click Save when you're ready.
If any issues are detected—like an out-of-stock gift product—the app will warn you before saving.
Monitor on the Dashboard
Your campaign appears on the Promo Party dashboard with:
- Campaign name and status
- Trigger and gift details
- Schedule dates
Proactive warnings:
If something goes wrong during a live campaign (e.g., gift product goes out of stock), a warning banner appears on the dashboard. You don't have to discover problems yourself.
